Players stand in the center of a room and must defend themselves from a series of randomly spawning enemies that will slowly move towards them. The addition of rotating forcefields which can reflect a player’s shots, can create some nail-biting situations as the player spins around trying to stay alive. This simple encounter allowed them to learn the basics of the game against a foursome of drunk louts. To make my Ogre feel like a mindless brute, I always made sure to go after whomever dealt the most damage to him. Also, this encounter also introduced them to their first environmental hazards, a slippery pile of shale (the colorful pile of shards on the right). Thankfully, the Sorcerer was able to read the book on the center pedestal and realize he needed to light the four brazers around the room. However, as the players pushed up along the bridge, large pieces of the bridge would fall away with little warning, forcing players to adapt quickly.
